What the category offers vs. what a verifiable record offers
MedTrainer is a broad healthcare-compliance platform combining learning, credentialing and compliance modules — a genuinely wide feature set with a large install base. Organizations researching alternatives are usually looking for one of two things: a platform scoped to what a smaller or mid-sized group actually needs, or a stronger answer to "can I prove this happened." LaborGenie is built around the second question.
What public reviews say
As of recent public reviews on Capterra, MedTrainer holds an average rating of 4.3 out of 5 across roughly 120 reviews. Recurring themes in those reviews include software bugs, slow page loads, courses freezing, login issues, confusing navigation, delayed support response, and difficulty assigning training to new staff without contacting support directly. None of that is unusual for a large, feature-broad platform — but it’s worth knowing before you commit to one.
Where the two platforms differ
Scope. MedTrainer bundles learning management, credentialing operations, and compliance tracking into one broad platform. LaborGenie is scoped to workforce training and the attestation record behind it — narrower, on purpose.
The record. MedTrainer, like most LMS platforms, issues a certificate when a course is finished, from a database an administrator can edit. LaborGenie’s attestation records are append-only at the database level — nobody can edit or delete one after signing, including LaborGenie itself.
Assignment. Public reviews describe needing to contact support to assign training to new hires. LaborGenie resolves new hires to their tracks automatically, from the roster.
Pricing. Like Relias and HealthStream, MedTrainer’s pricing isn’t published — you’ll need a quote either way. LaborGenie’s pricing isn’t published yet either; see Pricing for why and what happens on a call.
What LaborGenie doesn’t do
MedTrainer’s credentialing and clinical-competency breadth, and its accredited CE library, are real. LaborGenie has no accreditation today and isn’t trying to be a full clinical-competency platform. If your organization specifically needs accredited CE contact hours, MedTrainer or Relias is the better fit for that requirement.
